Siemens Medical Solutions of Malvern, PA, has introduced a new mobile C-arm system, Arcadis Varic, at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) annual meeting in San Francisco.
The new C-arm delivers up to 65% more imaging power in a compact and lightweight design, Siemens said. The system was recently cleared by the Food and Drug
Administration.
The product has the vendor’s syngo platform built into the system, allowing it to access all clinical patient information online, including multimodality image viewing for CT and MR, and it also supports DICOM features. Arcadis Varic is also equipped with a fully digital 1024 x 1024 image matrix that functions throughout the imaging chain, from image acquisition to image processing and documentation, according to the company.
The system includes an examination task-card feature that accommodates a range of applications, from orthopedic and trauma to vascular surgery. For each application, a specific task-card program is selected through Virtual Patient Anatomy, a graphically oriented anatomic map that provides customized imaging power to ensure the best image quality at minimal dose. Up to 100 dedicated, application-specific programs are available, Siemens said.
