Ex-Instrumentarium units merge

Former Instrumentarium C-arm companies Instrumentarium Imaging Ziehm of Nuremberg, Germany, and Instrumentarium Imaging Ziehm of Riverside, CA, have merged to form a new company called Ziehm Imaging. Ziehm Imaging is part of German asset management firm ATON.

All key members of the Ziehm management team remain with the company, according to Ziehm. GE Healthcare acquired Instrumentarium in October 2003, but was required to divest the Ziehm business worldwide to secure U.S. Department of Justice approval for the deal. Ziehm said it will retain its Nuremberg and Riverside facilities and will continue to focus on mobile x-ray-based surgical imaging systems.

In product developments, Ziehm is introducing Vision Flat and Vario3D. Vision Flat is a digital mobile C-arm that integrates a silicon-based flat-panel detector and a custom-made imaging system. Vario 3D provides 3-D imaging, and allows for iso-centric image capture based on the standard-size Ziehm C-arm, according to the vendor.
