Planar launches trade-in program

Medical display provider Planar Systems of Beaverton, OR, has initiated a "fat-to-flat" incentive program to replace cathode-ray tube (CRT) monitors with its flat-panel displays.

The promotion, beginning today and running through July 16, permits end-users worldwide to trade in current 2-megapixel (MP) or higher CRT display controller boards for special pricing on the purchase of dual sets of Dome C3 3 MP and Dome C5i 5MP grayscale flat-panel displays.

Planar has suggested pricing for its Dome C3 systems below $10,000, and Dome C5i displays less than $17,000, for its resellers and OEM partners, the company said.

The firm said that end-users, including hospital personnel, IT managers, radiologists, PACS administrators, and physicians could register for the promotion at http://www.cxdisplays.com/ to qualify existing display controller boards for the incentive program.

The fat-to-flat promotion follows on the heels of aggressive price cuts by the manufacturer on its Dome flat-panel display systems for new installations this past February. The firm is seeking to further its presence in the existing installed base of medical display monitors with the incentive-pricing program, according to Matt Harris, Planar vice president of marketing and corporate development.
