Transcription and digital dictation firm MedQuist of Mount Laurel, NJ, is being sued by a California hospital that claims it was overcharged for transcription services.
The suit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California by South Broward Hospital District, dba Memorial Regional Hospital. The plaintiffs claim to be part of a class of nongovernmental hospitals and medical centers that were "wrongfully and fraudulently overcharged for transcription services," according to MedQuist.
The plaintiffs are seeking damages of an unspecified amount, as well as an injunction against "continued illegal activities."
