ISMRM: MRI useful in predicting tumor response in breast cancer patients
May 9, 2024
A 47-year-old female patient with chronic pain in the left lower back/buttock with unknown cause. PET demonstrated focally increased FDG uptake at the left facet L3-4 l. MRI shows minimal fluid, but no edema. Follow-up PET-MRI after six months shows a similar pattern. The patient is on the waiting list for targeted facet joint infiltration (typically not covered by insurance in the Netherlands).

Sagittal view of the scapula showing a comminuted fracture of the inferior portion, imaged with computed tomography (CT, left image) and by an ultrashort time of echo (UTE) sequence (right image) on MRI. Both images appear similar, with an identical representation of the fracture, illustrating the potential of UTE to create CT-like images and suggesting that both imaging modalities could be interchangeable in clinical practice.
