Infrared imaging technology developer Advanced BioPhotonics has signed a research agreement with the Research Foundation of the State University of New York (SUNY).
The project, which will be carried out by Terry Button, Ph.D., of Stony Brook University, will investigate the use of the Bohemia, NY-based vendor's dynamic infrared imaging technology (DIRI) in cancer drug discovery, as well as in adjunctive diagnosis of breast cancer. Advanced BioPhotonics said the project could potentially be expanded into other applications, including perforator vessel localization for reconstructive surgery, intraoperative neurosurgery, and cancer therapy monitoring.
In other company news, the firm has entered into an agreement with four accredited and institutional investors for an aggregate of $4 million in gross proceeds. Advanced BioPhotonics said it would use the funds to support commercialization activities for its BioScanIR system.
