Final day of MDCT video stream; Fishman on iPads; CT for stroke; PACS downtime

Dear AuntMinnie Member,

Today is the final day of our live video stream of the 2013 proceedings of the International Symposium on Multidetector-Row CT, available at isct.auntminnie.com.

You still have a few hours left to check out the video stream, which will run until 5:40 p.m. EDT. The day's final presentations will cover cardiac CT, including discussions of CT as a gatekeeper to the cath lab and how to manage incidental findings on cardiac CT.

Make sure to visit our CT Digital Community for editorial coverage of the meeting, including this article on a talk by Dr. Elliot Fishman on how iPads are changing the practice of radiology.

You should also check out this story on the use of CT to predict treatment outcomes in patients with ischemic stroke of the middle cerebral artery, as well as this story about Dr. Ella Kazerooni's Wednesday presentation on whether ultralow-dose CT needs extra validation before its ready for prime time.

PACS downtime

Do you hate it when your PACS network is down? Even if it's for routine maintenance, PACS downtime can be an annoyance. Find out what Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center did about it in a new article in our PACS Digital Community.

Cincinnati Children's has adopted a new PACS continuity plan that involves a dedicated backup PACS that's used only during downtime. The institution previously had a test system as its downtime PACS, but technical issues made this configuration problematic.
