FDA clears Arineta cardiac CT scanner

Israel-based imaging equipment manufacturer Arineta said it has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance for its SpotLight CT cardiovascular scanner.

The proprietary design of the dedicated cardiovascular scanner is very different from that of conventional multislice CT scanners, according to the firm. It was designed in cooperation with cardiologists specifically for use by cardiologists, Arineta said.

The scanner's price point is also lower and its performance level is higher than that of comparable conventional scanners, according to the company.

Clearance in hand, Arineta said it is now working with its distribution partner to begin shipments to the U.S.
