Philips Healthcare is teaming up with Augusta University Health in Augusta, GA, to implement a hybrid operating room (OR) designed to expedite the diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer.
Under a long-term partnership model that provides for co-creation of clinical solutions, Augusta University Health opened a hybrid operating room in May 2017. The hybrid OR can accommodate navigational bronchoscopy, percutaneous biopsy, and video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery -- all assisted by intraoperative conebeam CT imaging, according to the vendor.
By having all three techniques available in one space at a single appointment with a multidisciplinary team, the institution can tailor a patient's care plan in one day, eliminating the need for multiple visits, Philips said.
