Shimadzu Medical Systems USA said that Munroe Regional Medical Center its Ocala, FL, has opened its new catheterization lab in Munroe's Heart and Vascular Center. The cardiac procedure room uses the Torrance, CA-based vendor's Safire direct conversion technology, the first such lab in the U.S.
In other Shimadzu news, the firm has entered into a research agreement with Mikron Digital Imaging of Chicago and Henry Ford Health Systems of Detroit. Henry Ford Health Systems will receive the first SonialVision Safire FPD system in the U.S.
SonialVision Safire FPD employs Shimadzu's 17 x 17-inch Safire flat-panel selenium detector for radiographic/fluoroscopic applications. Delivery is scheduled for late November, according to Shimadzu.
