Big-data visualization software developer Zebra Medical Vision and Clalit Health Services have completed a software algorithm for bone density screening that can increase osteoporosis detection.
Developed in collaboration with Clalit Research Institute, the artificial intelligence-based algorithm uses existing CT data to identify candidates for bone density screening. It can calculate bone density using CT scans performed for other purposes combined with demographic and medical data, thus identifying populations at risk of osteoporosis without the need for additional procedures or radiation, the firms said.
The algorithm will eventually be used to scan all relevant CT scans, the firms said.
