Interventional device developer Boston Scientific of Natick, MA, has received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for a catheter used for endoscopic procedures, the company said.
Boston Scientific's SpyScope access and delivery catheter is used in conjunction with the company's SpyGlass direct visualization system, and can be used to guide visualization and accessory devices throughout the entire pancreaticobiliary system, allowing physicians to diagnose and treat pancreatic cancer or precancerous tissues.
SpyScope can also be used with Boston Scientific's disposable SpyBite biopsy forceps for taking diagnostic tissue samples and for delivering laser and electrohydraulic lithotripsy (EHL) therapies.
