IBA, Philips join forces in proton therapy

Radiopharmaceutical developer Ion Beam Applications (IBA) and Philips Healthcare parent Royal Philips Electronics have inked a deal to create proton therapy centers.

Named Proteus TK2 and initially developed for the Middle East market, the IBA-Philips center design will have a patient-centric focus and encompass all elements necessary to build a complete proton therapy center, according to the firms.

The turnkey centers will include the building exterior and interior architecture; two IBA proton therapy treatment rooms; Philips Ambient Experience design offerings; Philips patient monitoring equipment; and Philips CT, CT simulation, and MR imaging technology.
