Nuclear medicine firm Zecotek Photonics has received a patent on its technology for enhancing the performance of PET scanning and other medical imaging systems.
The patent (No. 7,956,331 B2) technology was developed under a joint PET/MRI development alliance with the University of Washington.
The technology utilizes Zecotek's patented scintillation crystals and solid-state photodetectors and optical components integrated with the University of Washington's data acquisition methodologies and image reconstruction algorithms for new scanners.
The project is managed by Zecotek Photonics' wholly owned subsidiary, Zecotek Imaging Systems.
