Philips Healthcare plans to consolidate its nuclear medicine division by relocating approximately 100 jobs from San Jose, CA, to Highland Heights, OH, according to a report from Cleveland.com.
Philips had moved its nuclear medicine headquarters from California to Highland Heights in 2006, and it currently employs some 1,200 workers at a suburban campus. Research and development for SPECT had remained in San Jose, however, according to the report.
Before choosing to consolidate in Ohio, Philips had also considered maintaining the California facility or shifting work to Israel, the Netherlands, China, or Russia.
The new jobs will be part of an imaging research and development facility. Philips has received a $5 million grant from the Ohio Third Frontier Commission in support of the project.
