The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) has renewed radioisotope firm Nordion's license for operating a nuclear substance processing facility.
The renewal is valid through October 2025, according to the commission. In making its decision, CNSC considered information presented by Nordion and 14 other parties at an August public hearing in Ottawa, Ontario. The decision includes approval of Nordion's revised financial guarantee.
CNSC also directed its staff to report on the performance of the facility as part of its oversight report. The annual reports will be presented at public commission proceedings, where the public may also file requests to intervene.
