Israeli functional imaging technology developer Molecular Dynamics successfully imaged the first patient on the Valiance X12, a prototype whole-body SPECT/CT system based on cadmium zinc telluride (CZT) digital detectors.
The examination took place in the department of nuclear medicine at the Chaim Sheba Medical Center in Israel.
Valiance X12 includes adaptive image acquisition that focuses the detectors on specific organs and simultaneous, multiple isotope, online, dynamic imaging. It can tailor the imaging process to individual patients and collect more data than conventional SPECT technology does, according to the firm.
Molecular Dynamics is developing advanced applications to further support patient diagnosis and treatment decisions, the firm added.
