The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared Siemens Healthcare's Biograph Horizon, an entry-level PET/CT system.
The system includes 4-mm lutetium oxyorthosilicate (LSO) crystals, which produce high-resolution images and allow for time-of-flight acquisition, according to the firm. It is the smallest PET/CT system with the lowest power requirements, and is designed for attractive total cost of ownership, Siemens said.
Biograph Horizon also includes Siemens' Quanti-QC feature, which runs quality control procedures overnight; its syngo.via molecular imaging processing; and EQ-PET, which standardizes uptake value measurements across different scanners. The scanner sports a 16-slice CT component.
