At its annual meeting in September, the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology (ASNC) awarded Dr. Venkatesh Murthy, PhD, of the University of Michigan the society's inaugural Best Clinical Abstract award.
Murthy's presentation was titled "Association of nuclear cardiology laboratory accreditation with downstream resource utilization and clinical outcomes," and he was one of two recipients who received the award.
His research, which was funded by a grant from the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC), found that IAC nuclear cardiology accreditation was associated with lower rates of cardiac catheterization and revascularization within 90 days of imaging, compared with non-IAC accredited facilities, the ASNC said.
