The Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI) is celebrating its 60th anniversary by issuing a special supplement of its Journal of Nuclear Medicine (JNM) that features a collection of the most influential and frequently cited manuscripts in the JNM's history.
Along with those influential manuscripts are perspectives from nuclear medicine, molecular imaging, and theranostics experts who explain why each of these articles had such an impact. Examples include the invention of the Anger camera, the creation of PET and F-18 FDG, the development of fusion PET/CT, and the introduction of FDG PET-based response criteria in solid tumors.
The issue concludes with the associate editors' views on the most promising future applications of nuclear medicine, the society said in a press release.
