Medical isotope firm Shine Medical Technologies announced it has selected a location in the northern Netherlands for its new production facility.
The new facility will be located in Veendam in the province of Groningen and will be focused initially on the production of molybdenum-99, a diagnostic isotope for procedures that detect heart disease, cancer, and other conditions, the company stated.
Construction of the facility is expected to begin in 2023. The company's construction partners will employ workers from the area while the facility is being built. Once fully operational, it will employ about 200 workers, Shine reported.
The decision included a review of more than 50 proposals from sites across Europe.
