Spectrum Dynamics said it has deployed its TruCorr attenuation correction software for its D-SPECT Series digital gamma camera across the U.S., Europe, and Asia.
Currently, the most common way to visually address attenuation artifacts has been to scan patients twice, using different positions, or by obtaining a corresponding CT transmission scan, the company said.
TruCorr performs attenuation correction using a deep-learning approach with data from patients' SPECT scans, Spectrum said. This eliminates the need to scan patients in two different positions, such as upright and supine or prone.
In addition, the software can be useful in sites where there is no CT scanner available, and it can free up CT scanners and staff, Spectrum said.
