Proton therapy developer Ion Beam Application (IBA) will install a Cyclone 30XP in Poland for the production of astatine-211 (At-211) for oncology applications.
At-211 is an alpha particle emitter used in oncology for targeted therapies to treat brain, thyroid, ovarian, breast, and prostate cancer. This is the company’s third installation in Europe for A-211 production, following earlier installations in Germany and France. Beyond At-211, the company is also developing accelerator applications for other theranostic isotopes, IBA said.
