Image-guided therapy developer IMRIS said it has been granted a U.S. patent for MR-guided radiation therapy, which involves the combination of radiation therapy and a moveable magnet system.
In addition, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently cleared the first package in what will be several products in IMRIS' MR-guided radiation therapy business. The package is for pelvic, brain, and head and neck imaging, and it includes MRI coil sets and a specialized imaging tabletop intended to help physicians conduct diagnostic MRI scans for radiation therapy treatment planning and simulation, according to the firm.
