Safety and security screening systems firm CEIA USA has introduced metal detection technology to screen patients for dangerous metallic and ferromagnetic items prior to MRI exams.
Available as a walk-through detector (MetalMag) or a handheld version (PD240CH), the CEIA systems combine metal and ferromagnetic detection functionality to filter and suppress alarms for items that do not pose safety threats, according to the company.
MetalMag can target the exact location of a dangerous item on the person or in the body of an individual in transit, CEIA said. It does not require any specialized installation and can be deployed at the MRI screening control point in any facility.
The handheld PD240CH unit adds precise screening and detection of smaller dangerous items prior to admittance to the MRI magnet room, CEIA said. Both metal detectors were developed in collaboration with MRI safety firm Aegys.
