Fujifilm Healthcare Americas is debuting its new high-field open MRI system, Velocity MRI, at the RSNA 2021 meeting in Chicago.
The scanner has an open gantry, integrated radiofrequency (RF) coils, and reconstruction technologies. Velocity's anatomy-conformable Synergy Flex coil is the first of its kind for an open, vertical-field MRI scanner, according to Fujifilm, and paves the way for swift abdominal and orthopedic imaging.

The open gantry allows for patient access in real-time during interventional procedures, and the system has in-gantry left and right movement with multiple coil connectors to position the patient. Plus, the extra-wide patient table can accommodate patients up to 660 lb, the company said.
