Siemens Healthineers has received U.S. clearance for it its new 1.5-tesla MRI scanner, the Magnetom Viato.Mobile.

The scanner is designed to be installed in a trailer for easy transportation to offsite locations and features a 70-cm bore and advanced technologies that have migrated from the company's fixed scanners. These include BioMatrix Technology, which enables users to compensate for different patient physiologies and anatomies, and Deep Resolve, AI image reconstruction software that improves signal-to-noise ratio and reduces scan times, in some cases (brain scans) by as much as 70%, Siemens said.

The scanner includes a comprehensive portfolio of high-performance MR coils designed to increase patient comfort, workflows, and image quality, Siemens added. The scanner’s myExam Companion features provide technologists with tiered levels of assistance to guide them through the exam, regardless of their experience level, the company noted.

Ultimately, the mobile MRI scanner brings advanced medical imaging to patients, often with serious health conditions, who would otherwise need to travel long distances, Siemens said.
