Radiation therapy vendor Varian Medical Systems reported fiscal second-quarter revenues of $351 million, up 9% compared with the $320.6 million posted in the second quarter a year ago. For the period (end-April 1), the Palo Alto, CA-based firm had net earnings of $54 million, compared with net earnings of $44 million last year.
The second-quarter results also included gains in backlog and net orders, with contributions from established as well as emerging business areas, according to chairman and CEO Richard Levy.
