Guertin tapped as Varian CEO

Richard Levy, chairman and CEO of radiation therapy firm Varian Medical Systems of Palo Alto, CA, has announced his retirement as CEO of the company, effective February 17, 2006. He will continue in his role as chairman of the board, the company said.

Varian's board has elected Timothy Guertin, the developer's current president and chief operating officer, to succeed Levy as CEO.
