Radiation therapy firm Varian Medical Systems has received FDA 510(k) clearance for a new proton therapy eye dose calculation module that has been incorporated into company's Eclipse radiation therapy treatment planning system.
The proton eye dose calculation module enables physicians to create plans for delivering proton radiation beam treatment for ocular cancers while protecting the critical structures in and around the human eye, according to the Palo Alto, CA-based vendor.
