Radiation oncology firm Varian Medical Systems has acquired several software products from Transpire.
The transaction includes Acuros dose calculation software, which is integrated into Varian's BrachyVision and Eclipse treatment planning software products.
Kolleen Kennedy, president of Varian's Oncology Systems business, said the acquisition will allow Varian to leverage Acuros for use in proton therapy and to improve guidance tools on other Varian treatment systems.
Varian also purchased Transpire's Attila software, which is being used worldwide in industries in which radiation effects play a role in product performance, safety, and reliability.
The acquisition closed at the end of July.
