Radiotherapy positioning technology developer Qfix will debut a range of new products at next week's American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) meeting in San Francisco.
A new integrated trolley package for its SDX Deep Inspiration Breath Hold (DIBH) system enables SDX to be easily integrated into current radiotherapy simulation and treatment workflow, according to the vendor. In other enhancements for SDX, a new automatic gating module allows gating of photon and proton treatments based on a patient's respiratory level, Qfix said.
In addition, the firm will showcase its kVue couch top. The radiotherapy couch top includes modular inserts and supports transitions from imaging through treatment, Qfix said.
The company is also launching its Access Prone Vac-Q-Fix cushions, which are designed for prone breast treatment and to maximize reproducible patient positioning while immobilizing the contralateral breast during radiotherapy simulation and treatment, Qfix said. The cushions are compatible with the company's kVue Access 360 and Access Prone breast treatment devices.
Qfix is also demonstrating its Integrity series of head and neck thermoplastic masks.
In other company news, Qfix said that its Base of Skull (BoS) head frame has been selected as the new head and neck positioning and immobilization device for the S250 proton therapy system from Mevion Medical Systems.
The firm also has promoted Dave Rabeno to director of strategic research and development. Rabeno has been with Qfix since its inception as an engineer and has held the titles of senior engineer and engineering manager. In his new role, he will serve as the primary technical lead to provide technical assessments of new product opportunities, potential acquisitions, and license opportunities, Qfix said.
