Radiation therapy software developer RaySearch is highlighting the first clinical use of its Monte Carlo dose calculation method for photon radiation with its RayStation carbon ion therapy treatment planning system.
Heidelberg University Hospital in Germany has treated its first patient using the graphics processing unit-based method, which incorporates the Monte Carlo algorithm, RaySearch said.
