IBA, RaySearch expand partnership in proton therapy

Proton therapy developer Ion Beam Applications (IBA) and radiation therapy software developer RaySearch Laboratories have extended their partnership to cover new areas of proton therapy.

IBA and RaySearch have been working together in various areas of radiation oncology since 2013, such as through the integration of IBA's Proteus treatment systems with RaySearch's RayStation software.

As part of the extended deal, RaySearch's RayCare oncology information system will be customized for use with IBA treatment delivery systems, while both RayStation and RayCare will include jointly developed features, dedicated software interfaces, and modified graphical user interface components to make workflow smoother.

The extended partnership will proton arc therapy planning, Flash therapy planning, and machine-specific treatment planning tools to ensure radiation dose conformality along the treatment course for patients with tumors that move during treatment.
