Handheld-ultrasound vendor SonoSite will feature a full-size modular system, the Titan, which received Food and Drug Administration clearance in April.

Titan features color Doppler, pulsed-wave Doppler, tissue harmonic imaging, SiteLink DICOM, and on-board DICOM capabilities, SonoSite said. It has the ability to have three transducers connected and available, so the operator can switch between transducers in less than six seconds.

The Bothell, WA vendor said that Titan is cost-effective and is targeted for thyroid, testicular, breast, musculoskeletal, vascular, abdominal, general thoracic, obstetrical, gynecological, pediatric, and neonatal head and abdomen applications.

It is available in the U.S. and the rest of the world. The basic configuration starts at $25,000; the average cost for the full-featured system is about $60,000.
