Toshiba will show its new iAssist wireless remote control device, which allows a remote user interface with the company’s Aplio premium ultrasound platform.

Toshiba Ult According to Toshiba, the iAssist device uses Bluetooth wireless remote technology, allowing the operator to keep attention focused on the screen and control the machine while applying the transducer to hard-to-access places. It reportedly reduces task times by 34%.

Food and Drug Administration clearance is pending. Toshiba said it expects 510(k) clearance by the first of next year, and will immediately release it after clearance. A price has not yet been determined.

The Aplio offers Vascular Recognition Imaging, which yields real-time observation of arterial and portal phases, simultaneous display of vascularization and perfusion, and directional flow display. The platform’s Micro Flow Imaging (MFI) captures microvasculature detail in the liver, kidney, breast, thyroid, lymph nodes, etc. Version 5 upgrade for Aplio also has trapezoid imaging to both phased and linear transducers.
