Ultrasound technology developer Longport has developed additional dermatology probes for its Episcan-I-200 ultrasound system, according to the Glen Mills, PA-based firm.
The device currently utilizes ultrasound probes optimized at a center frequency of 20 MHz and are designed to image the ~10 mm of soft tissue that is normally found over the bony prominences of most common pressure ulcer sites.
The new probe configurations are optimized at a center frequency of 50 MHz, and are expected to be used by dermatologists, plastic surgeons, and researchers, the company said.
