Philips unveils ultrasound enhancements

Philips Medical Systems has rolled out new ultrasound product upgrades as part of its Vision 2005 program.

The enhancements include new pediatric cardiology capabilities and enhanced vascular capabilities on its iE33 system, as well as new cardiology capabilities and 3D fetal imaging on iU22, according to the Andover, MA-based vendor. On-cart and off-cart upgrades to Philips' QLAB quantification software have also been incorporated on both platforms.

Philips has added 3D synchronicity indices (3DSI) to iE33, providing a 3D quantitative method of evaluating cardiac dyssynchrony using the standard deviation of minimum LV regional volumes as a percentage of the cardiac cycle, according to the firm. A pediatric cardiology package includes special transducers and pediatric capabilities, such as a multiplane transesophageal (TEE) transducer, Philips said.

In iU22 developments, Philips has brought its SonoCT compound imaging technology to the system, as well as xMatrix array and PureWave crystal technology.
