Toshiba adds to cardiac offerings at ACC show

Toshiba America Medical Systems is showcasing several cardiac imaging technology enhancements in its booth at this week's American College of Cardiology (ACC) annual meeting in Orlando, FL.

In ultrasound, the Tustin, CA-based vendor will introduce a new pediatric package and two probes for its Aplio Artida scanner. The new probes will provide higher transducer frequencies for pediatrics, Toshiba said.

In addition, Toshiba will present two new software upgrades designed to improve 3D and 2D wall-motion tracking. The 3D wall-motion tracking upgrade will allow physicians to assess live 3D volume images in one cardiac cycle, while the new 2D wall-motion tracking functionality will allow users to separate out parts of the heart for viewing, Toshiba said.

In x-ray developments, Toshiba is highlighting a new addition to its Infinix-i cardiovascular line. Infinix VF-i features a 12 x 12-inch flat-panel digital detector and the next generation of the vendor's Advanced Image Processing (AIP) technology, according to the vendor.

The AIP enhancements aid clinicians with device and stent visualization, in particular when using fluoroscopic imaging during diagnostic and interventional procedures, Toshiba said.
