AuntMinnie.com Ultrasound Insider

Dear Ultrasound Insider,

Work-related musculoskeletal injuries are the bane of any sonographer's career. Prevention may be the best medicine, but it's also possible to return to pain-free scanning even after symptoms have begun.

That's the message from a new four-part series by cardiac sonographer Doug Wuebben; Mark Roozen, strength coach for the NFL's Cleveland Browns; and Joel Raether, strength coach for the National Lacrosse League's Colorado Mammoth. Their series will share a detailed approach for fixing damage that's already been done.

The first article in the series is this month's Insider Exclusive, which you have access to before it's published for the rest of our AuntMinnie.com members. To learn more about overcoming work-related musculoskeletal injuries, click here.

In other articles we're featuring this month in your Ultrasound Digital Community, a research team from George Washington University believes that the combination of a handheld echocardiography system and a smartphone may be able to bridge the care gap in remote areas.

You can also catch up on the latest developments involving ultrasound guidance for radiation therapy via an article provided by our partner medicalphysicsweb. And in other news, color Doppler ultrasound was found to reliably diagnose carpal tunnel syndrome, while an image processing method could provide quantitative evaluation of its severity.

Finally, be sure to check out the second column in Dr. Jason Birnholz' series on the practice of ultrasound.
