Philips Healthcare has introduced a new portable ultrasound system, the CX50 xMatrix with Live 3D Transesophageal Echo (TEE), which for the first time provides real-time 3D transesophageal visualization of cardiac structure and function on the company's CX50 platform.
The product made its debut at the American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) annual scientific sessions being held in National Harbor, MD, from June 30 through July 3.
CX50 xMatrix is an all-in-one scanner for guiding structural heart disease repairs in cardiac catheterization labs and hybrid cardiac operating rooms, offering Live 3D TEE plus an architecture designed to support future capabilities including advanced fluoro integration with Philips Allura systems. Its transducer can be shared between the CX50 and the iE33 xMatrix systems, a feature designed to reduce the number of TEE transducers that a customer needs to purchase.
Philips also announced a Vision 2013 upgrade for existing CX50 cardiology customers. The upgrade includes Qlab 9.0 software with an improved speckle tracking algorithm for faster and more robust strain quantification. New pediatric analysis and structured reporting capabilities have also been added, as well as features to improve annotation and workflow.
The Vision 2013 upgrade also includes the S12-4 and S8-3 sector transducers for pediatric and neonatal imaging, along with the C8-5 and L12-5 50-mm transducers for specialized vascular imaging.
