Therapeutic ultrasound vendor Misonix has signed an exclusive three-year distribution agreement in South Korea with Seoul-based Soelim for distribution of Misonix' Sonastar ultrasonic surgical aspiration system and BoneScalpel ultrasonic bone cutting system.
The deal, which incorporates minimum purchase requirements, gives Soelim the right to sell throughout Korea, according to the companies. Registration and initial product training are complete and open market sales have begun.
Surgeons use the Sonastar system to remove hard and soft tumors from bone while sparing most vessels and surrounding tissue. The BoneScalpel is a tissue-specific osteotomy device that cuts through bone and hard tissue without the danger associated with rotary sharps, the companies said.
