Expert radiologists and representatives from five imaging societies will be on hand in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, on March 25 and 26 to provide a series of didactic lectures and hands-on ultrasound training focusing on pediatric imaging.
The two-day event, called Radiology Education Days, will include participants from the American College of Radiology (ACR), the World Federation of Pediatric Imaging, the Society for Pediatric Radiology, the Society of Radiologists in Ultrasound, and the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
The ACR said that Radiology Education Days is part of its ongoing commitment to improve radiological care in Haiti after the earthquake in January 2010. It expects 100 radiologists, pediatricians, and physicians from Haiti to attend the event, which is made possible in part by the Haiti Radiology Relief Fund, created by the ACR Foundation International Outreach Program.
Radiology Education Days is also supported in Haiti by International Child Care, which supports Grace Children's Hospital, a facility that was destroyed in the earthquake.
