CIRS rolls out 2 new US phantoms

Computerized Imaging Reference Systems (CIRS) has released two new quality assurance phantoms to satisfy updated ultrasound accreditation requirements published by the American College of Radiology (ACR).

To complete annual image uniformity and artifact surveys detailed in the program, CIRS launched the Accreditation Phantom for Uniformity, model 551. The phantom is designed to help trained personnel identify the presence of lateral and/or axial streaks.

The second phantom, Accreditation Phantom for Geometric Accuracy (model 552), is for verifying geometric accuracy in the vertical and horizontal directions and system sensitivity on most transducers. The phantom may also be used to evaluate image uniformity of linear transducers, CIRS said.

The updated ACR accreditation program will go into effect on June 1 for facilities maintaining or seeking accreditation, according to the company.
