ASE debuts new version of AUC app

The American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) Foundation has released version 2.0 of its mobile Echo appropriate use criteria (AUC) app.

The first version of Echo AUC, which was introduced in the fall of 2013, included all 98 applications for transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) from the society's 2011 AUC document. The new release adds the remaining 104 indications encompassing transesophageal echocardiography (TEE), stress echocardiography, and contrast echocardiography, according to ASE.

In addition, the app includes six new algorithms for stress echocardiography to help physicians determine if the modality is appropriate in various scenarios, ASE said.
