Ultrasound technology developer Rivanna Medical has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance for Accuro, an ultrasound device designed to provide 3D navigation guidance for clinicians using needles or probes.
The initial commercial application of the handheld, smartphone-sized device will be to administer spinal anesthesia into the epidural space, according to the vendor. Accuro has also received clearance for a variety of additional imaging applications, including diagnostic imaging of the cardiac and abdominal anatomies, Rivanna said.
