Hitachi Healthcare Americas has formed an echocardiography research partnership with the West Virginia University Heart and Vascular Institute.
The multiyear collaboration seeks to advance the evaluation of left ventricle mechanical function using advanced analysis tools, according to the vendor. Specifically, the partnership aims to provide evidence that cardiac multidimensional imaging with fluid mechanics has important roles for predicting noninvasive parameters in the study of percutaneous valve interventions, Hitachi said.
Hitachi's vector flow mapping (VFM) echocardiography technology is capable of evaluating instantaneous blood motion in the left ventricle. The goal is to use VFM analysis during structural heart interventions to develop an individualized approach and achieve better outcomes, the company said. Dr. Partho Sengupta, the Heart and Vascular Institute's director of cardiovascular imaging, will serve as the project's principal investigator.
