The Aplio i600 ultrasound scanner from Canon Medical Systems USA has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance.

First demonstrated at RSNA 2017, Aplio i600 is an entry-level system designed to provide high-quality imaging with easy-to-use workflow and performance features, according to the company.

Canon is highlighting Aplio i600's intuitive ergonomics, which the company believes will help boost productivity during routine and complex exams with the scanner's iSense design, which makes it easy for clinicians to adjust the console to virtually any scanning position.

The scanner also sports an image-guided user interface that visually guides clinicians through exams while simplifying system operation and improving efficiency. Aplio i600 also features Canon's iPerformance imaging technology, which reduces clutter, strengthens signal, and improves visualization.

In addition, Aplio i600 uses the same transducers as Canon's Aplio Platinum series of scanners, making migration to the new system easier.

The company is highlighting the system at this week's American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) meeting in New York City.
