Korean technology giant Samsung Electronics is in talks to sell its in vitro diagnostics (IVD) unit to a Japanese company, according to an article published on September 20 by BusinessKorea.

Samsung is in talks with pharmaceutical and device developer Nipro about taking over the IVD unit. Nipro would hire about 100 employees from the division, BusinessKorea reported.

There had been rumors in the industry that Samsung might sell other parts of its medical division, but a Samsung spokesperson rejected the speculation, stating that the IVD division was the only medical business it planned to sell off, according to the article.
