Ultrasound accessories firm CS Medical has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Health Canada clearance for a new automated transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) probe disinfector.
CS Medical's TD 200 automated TEE probe disinfector with TD 12 AquaCide biocide can disinfect TEE probes in a total cycle time of 10 minutes, according to the firm. TEE probes can be disinfected by TD 200 in three minutes using the single-use TD 12 AquaCide biocide, the company said.
TD 12 AquaCide comes in granulated form. After its bottle is pierced inside the TD 200, TD 12 AquaCide is then mixed with water and heated to create a high-level liquid disinfectant, according to CS Medical. Users can follow step-by-step instructions on the TD 200's liquid crystal display screen.
